What Govvy collects, what it doesn't, where it goes and how long it stays — in plain language.
In short
You can use Govvy without an account, and we don't store the text of your searches. Nearby uses your location only if you allow it. Preferences and saved items stay in your browser.
Vendors give a phone number and business details, which are shown publicly after review; payments go through Razorpay. Questions? Get help.
This policy covers everyone who uses govvy.live: people asking questions (no account needed) and service businesses that register as trusted vendors (phone-number account). Govvy is operated by Prakhar Tomar, Bengaluru, India — an independent product with no government affiliation.
The text you type or speak, the mode (Guide, Nearby, Learn), your chosen language and, for Guide, the state you selected are sent to our servers to produce an answer. Answers are generated with the help of an AI model (Google Gemini) and, for Nearby, Google Places. We do not store the text of your searches. Usage telemetry keeps a rotating, salted hash, the length of the query, coarse coordinates, the source hostname and whether the request succeeded — for 30 days — so we can catch abuse and see what breaks. It cannot be turned back into your search or into you.
If you allow it, your browser's location is used once to find offices near you. If you don't, we use an approximate location from your network, and if that fails, a default city. Exact coordinates are not stored; the search radius you choose stays in your browser.
Language, font size, recent searches, saved guides, step progress and your document checklist are stored in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device unless you share them, and you can clear them from your browser at any time.
We use Google Analytics to understand which features are used. It sets cookies and records page views and interaction events. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal or blocks the script, Govvy still works fully.
Businesses that register give a phone number (verified by OTP through Firebase Authentication), business details, service categories, photos and, optionally, GST and website details. These are shown on the public vendor profile and in Nearby results after a manual review. Payments are processed by Razorpay; Govvy receives the subscription status and identifiers, never card or bank details. Lead statistics (impressions, calls, map views, “get steps” taps) are counted in aggregate for the vendor's dashboard.

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, and raise a grievance. Because citizen use is anonymous, most requests will concern vendor accounts. Write to the grievance officer below; we aim to respond within 30 days.

Everything travels over HTTPS. Provider keys stay on the server and are never shipped to the browser. Vendor and admin endpoints verify a Firebase identity token on every request; uploads are size- and type-checked; payment webhooks are signature-verified. Rate and usage limits protect the free service from abuse. No system is perfect — if you find a security issue, please email the address above.
Govvy is a general information service and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Vendor registration is for businesses run by adults.
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes for vendors are also announced in the vendor dashboard.
